J R Casterfish — The Next Chapter
After Steve Banks stepped away in late 2022, and John Marsh chose to move forward in a different direction, J R Casterfish entered a period of transition. During that time, the band honored all contracted performances through mid-2023, bringing together select lineups to continue delivering the music.
Behind the scenes, two recording projects were in motion: Just Covers, an EP capturing the band’s live club energy, and Truth Be Told, a second full-length album of original material that reflected a more collaborative songwriting direction. Many songs were co-written by John Marsh and Joe Boettger, along with additional material written individually by both.
Elements of this evolution were already being introduced, including the instrumental Tumbler, performed during the 2022 Clio Cultivation Cup.
Over the past two years, the focus has been on regrouping, preserving the work created during that time, and combining material from both projects into a new EP, tentatively titled Loose Ends.
Now entering its third phase, J R Casterfish features Mike Fisher (bass), Joe Boettger (keyboards and vocals), Scott Fisher (drums), and Jonfloyd Brown (guitars and vocals). This lineup represents a return to the band’s core vision while continuing to build forward.
The band is currently working on its next full-length LP.
